VEGA STYLE N TENOR BANJO

This 19 fret standard scale length pre-war tenor banjo was made in 1931 as verified by the serial number 97873 which is stamped on both the rim and the dowel stick. The Style N is virtually the same banjo as the Little Wonder model. It has the same 10 15/16”  maple pot and neck (but dyed mahogany as all the Style Ns were)) and mahogany resonator.  It has the same Little Wonder Tone ring and the same great power and cut of the Little Wonder. The difference between the ‘N’ and the LW is that instead of having 28 brackets on a notched tension hoop it has 26 brackets on a grooved tension hoop. This particular one has been refinished so is immaculate. Only minimal wear on frets. The fretboard shows some wear but not enough to cause any problems and is to be expected on an instrument that is this old.  The Vega metal star on the peghead is probably post factory but I left it on as it is a period item and looked pretty neat.  A metal star identical to this one has just sold on Ebay for just under £28 ....yes just the star!! Original Grover geared tuners, a rare factory upgrade on this model of the Vega range. Price: £625
