VEGA  STYLE M SHORT SCALE LENGTH TENOR BANJO SOLD

This lovely banjo was made in 1925 as verified by the serial number: 63641 which is stamped on both the rim and the dowel stick. Considered by many to be the ultimate banjo for Irish music with its short 21" scale length and extended fretboard for easy fingering but retaining the musical range of a standard length banjo, its oversized rim (11 & 13/16") for great bass response and the legendary 'Tubaphone' tone ring for superb power and tone. This along with the close fitting resonator to push that tone and power outwards make this a great banjo for Irish banjo music. This particular one is a bit special as it  comes with a custom built hard case which itself has a soft outer canvas cover to protect it, along with provenance from it's previous owner which makes for interesting reading. Naturally all this comes with the instrument to make a great  package for the professional or discerning amateur player. The neck and the pie plate resonator have been re-stained and refinished so look great. The original tuners have long since been replaced with 5 Star Planet geared tuners for easy accurate tuning. Other than that all parts are original. (except for one odd nut!!)  A new Renaissance head has been fitted and it's been set up on a high bridge for lots of volume.
