VEGA ARTIST TENOR BANJO 20 photos
This lovely Vegaphone banjo was built in 1927 as verified by the serial number :75773 which is stamped on both the rim and the dowel stick. The majority of the metal work has be re- gold plated so looks stunning. It naturally features the famous Tu-Ba-Phone tone ring, (also gold plated) original Grover two tab geared tuners, 28 piece embossed flange and elaborate MOP inlays on the headstock front and rear, fret board and heel cap. also features a carved heel and the rim is capped with detailed marquetry inlay. The armrest is stamped with the Vega star. Neck is straight with no wear on the frets. Pie plate resonator with faux tortoise shell binding. Also features an Oettinger tailpiece which allows individual string tension. I notice this is from a Vega Soloist. Comes with what I assume is it's original case. Since the photos were taken it's had new frets and has been returned from a left handed set up back to it's original right handed configuration. This is a very beautiful instrument. Hear what it sounds like HERE. Price: £2000
