VEGA  LITTLE WONDER  TENOR BANJO

This early Fairbanks/Vega Little Wonder was  manufactured in 1921 as verified by the serial number :42583 which is stamped on both the dowel stick and the rim.  Little Wonders are sought after by Irish traditional musicians as they pack a great punch and really cut through in noisy sessions. This particular variation is even more desirable as it has the short (16 fret) scale length for easy fretting and the rare oversized pot (11 & 13/16") for extra bass response and volume. Being an open backed banjo it makes it fairly lightweight  for carrying around at festivals and to sessions.  This is a very nice example of an un-restored  original banjo. The original friction tuners have been replaced by modern geared tuners, it has been fitted with a new Renaissance head, new bridge and new heavy gauge strings for GDAE tuning. No wear on frets. Comes with it's original (I assume but can't say for certain) tatty hard case. Price: £650

What appears to be discolouration on the photos of the back of the neck is just shadow....there is no discolouration!
