STROMBERG VOISINET TENOR BANJO
This is a prewar 19 fret standard scale length tenor banjo with shed loads of character. Stromberg Voisinet made these banjos in Chicago and were distributed under a number of different names. Although it's not on the banjo anywhere research suggests that this was distributed by Harmony. (judging by the peg head shape) A lovely looking and sounding banjo, metalwork is generally very good, the resonator has a few scratches but as you can see from the photos it's a fine looking beauty. Features include: pearloid headstock veneer and pearloid fretboard, brass frets, gorgeous five piece walnut neck which has been re-finished so is absolutely flawless. Original Page Style E geared tuners, (as used on other top end banjos eg. Clifford Essex Paragon and Paramount banjos) marquetry inlays on the resonator back and sides and on the rim. These are real inlays not transfers! The most unusual feature on this banjo is the resonator which has been 'voiced', (this means that it was turned from solid timber and the inside of the resonator has been given a convex surface for good sound projection, while the outside of the resonator is the usual shape, a rare feature that one doesn't come across very often) I've set this up and fitted a new Renaissance head (my favourite Remo head) new bridge and new Phosphur bronze strings. Sorry I don't have a case. This is a good price on a quality made instrument. Price: £450
