WASHBURN - (LYON AND HEALY) TENOR BANJO SOLD

This is a pre-war (1920s) Washburn made by Lyon and Healey Style C, short scale 17 fret open back tenor banjo. Serial number 1144. In case you're wondering..........Washburn was Mr George Lyon's middle name! This one has had it's neck refinished so looks great. There's expected evidence of use on the metal work but that doesn't detract from the fact that this a very nice little player. The frets are very good and the old friction tuners have been replaced with new Schaller geared tuners for easy and accurate tuning. A new set of strings and a new bridge have also been fitted as well as a new 'Renaissance' head. Original features include the arm rest, the 'Kerschner Unique' tailpiece, (in my opinion these are the best tailpieces available after the Oettinger type) and the gloriously large donut style tone ring. This is the same tone ring that they used on the expensive fancy models. A great little banjo for someone who finds  a 19 fret neck too much of a stretch and also for someone who wants a lightweight but vintage sounding banjo for sessions and festivals. Comes with tatty period hard case. Price: SOLD
